If you need to visualise line features on a map and see what side of the road they’re on based on the line direction, use a custom line style.
Download this MAPINFOW.PEN file and save it to any or all of the following locations, depending on your operating system and configuration, substituting your own username where appropriate and your current version number of MapInfo:
- C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional
- (Windows XP): C:\Documents and Settings\(your Windows username)\Application Data\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\850
- (Windows XP): C:\Documents and Settings\(your Windows username)\Local Settings\Application Data\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\850
- (Windows 7): C:\Users\(your Windows username)\AppData\Roaming\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\850
Restart MapInfo.
When creating subsequent maps, use a style override based on the new linestyle. In the linestyle picklist, you’ll see two new styles. The first one offsets the line to the left of the line (convenient in Australia, UK, etc, where the data capture is likely to relate to features on the left hand side of the road). Conversely, the second style offsets the line to the right.
